First time at AberFest?

- how to make the most of AberFest '10 !

Firstly – Remember - AberFest is no ordinary festival.

Secondly – AberFest is open to all so everyone can take part or just watch.

Thirdly – AberFest is all about having fun whilst celebrating all things Cornish and Breton

Lastly – Pace yourself. AberFest is a full day of mostly free entertainment so you don’t want to peak too soon.

So here’s Steve’s essential guide to making the most of AberFest '10.

Having enjoyed a bit of a lie-in and a hearty breakfast gently break yourself (and your family or friends) into the day by watching some traditional music and dance on the moor (10am to 12.30).

Then there’s the parade at 12.30 (not to be missed). Watch the massed Cornish and Breton musicians and dancers perform, and marvel at the shoals of AberFest mackerel as they “swim” through the streets of Falmouth.

Things move on to Events Square, at the Maritime Museum. Grab a Pasty to eat when you get there. What to do next? Let’s see - perhaps the children would like to make something at the Art Gallery (2pm) or take part in a workshop – there’s a choice of singing, dancing, music and language as well as Cooking and another Children's workshop. Suitable for all starting at 2:30pm. Or, if you just want to relax and watch something, you may like to drop in on one of the many performances in and around the town centre. Before you know where you are it will be 5pm. Now is your last chance for a something to eat and a little rest and recuperation before the party night. So find a suitable location to relax in. Why not join us at the Methodist church? ( Bring your own food )

Suitably recharged?

OK, it’s off to The Stannery at Tremough Campus for the evening. V.Important - agree who’s going to drive or arrange to be collected or taxied home ( or even the Bus they run surprising late and from the AberFest-Noz site!). - that’s the hard bit.

Having absorbed all the sights and sounds of the day it’s a chance to enjoy yourself to the full at the party of the year – Cornish and Breton style. AberFest-Noz is suitable for all ages and everyone is invited and encouraged to join in - no previous experience is necessary! The Princess Pavilions are a fantastic venue and you’re sure to be made welcome. Doors open 7pm. In what will seem like an instant they’ll be calling last orders (11pm) and it’ll be time to head back home after an absolutely amazing day.
